Professional pathways into the industry
As a core element of our Engagement Programme, our Professional Development activities support young people and local theatremakers to throw light onto the world of theatre and offer bespoke opportunities to develop their craft. As a company, we offer a range of formal and informal opportunities including placements, workshops, mentoring and industry preparation activities. To date, we have worked with various partners and organisations to deliver our professional development programme:
Placements
– Assistant Director placements for Birkbeck and ALRA trainee directors
– 24:7 Theatre’s Foot in the Door scheme
– Manchester College students shadowing New Tricks development weeks
– Various work experience placements for local school, college and university students
Workshops
– Playwriting workshops with Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Young Writers programme
– Countless bespoke theatre workshops for a variety of education groups from schools, colleges, universities, drama schools and umbrella organisations
Mentoring
– National Theatre Step Change Programme 2017
– Informal advice and support to local emerging companies such as What a Little Bird Told Me, Ransack Theatre and Manchester ADP
Industry Preparation
– Delivery of ‘Setting up a Theatre Company’ sessions at HOME’s PUSH Festival and 24:7 Theatre Festivals
– Employing PANDA Young Media Consultants
– Working with acting students from Academy of Live and Recording Arts (ALRA) on mock auditions, third year productions and industry case studies
