Next in our Starter For Ten… series of quick-fire questions, we’ve got the director of The Last Quiz Night on Earth and Joint Artistic Director of Box of Tricks, Hannah Tyrrell-Pinder!
What would your drink of choice be to see in the end of the world (and why)?
Champagne – seems only fitting to see out the final minutes of humanity with a glass of fizz.
If you could spend the last night on earth with one person who would that be?
Well it’d have to be Adam – my partner in all things – but can I bend the rules and have our two children present but asleep upstairs??
What’s your local pub? What makes it special?
The pub I would consider my local is The Royal Oak in Cardington where I grew up. It’s special because I’ve had some of the best nights of my life there with my very best friends – apart from one New Year’s Eve that we don’t talk about, there was absinthe involved, enough said.
Who would be on your dream pub quiz team?
The QI elves would be pretty handy on a quiz team, I’m in it to win it!
What would the name of your quiz team be?
I do love a bit of punnage so it’d probably have to be Quiz Akabusi.
What’s the best (or worst) prize you’ve won in a quiz?
I have only ever won one quiz, and got a bottle of pretty disgusting perry as a prize, but the victory itself tasted sweet!
What’s your favourite TV quiz show and why?
QI probably as its consistently entertaining. Although I do enjoy the early rounds of University Challenge when the questions are a bit easier and you can feel smug in getting more than the teams onscreen.
What would your Mastermind specialist subject be?
The Muppets’ Christmas Carol – ask me anything, I know it like the back of my hand.
What would be on your soundtrack for the End of the World?
Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, and a bit of Motown.
And finally, what’s your go-to bar snack or pub grub?
Scampi Fries every time.
